The People’s Hall became a vibrant hub of learning and advocacy as it hosted the Basic Gender and Development (GAD) Orientation for Batch 7 City Government of Malaybalay employees on October 7, 2025. Organized under the national GAD framework, the orientation aimed to enhance participants’ awareness and deepen their understanding of gender sensitivity. The topics included the Basic GAD core messages (sex, gender, agents of socialization, gender issues, gender paradigm, Women in Development (WID), Women and Development (WAD), Gender and Development (GAD), gender equity, gender equality), Gender Sensitivity, SOGIESC (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics), and Gender-Fair Language in public service.
Dr. Sansehry B. Delos Santos, a recertified member of the Regional Pool of GAD Resource Persons (RPGRP) for Region X facilitated the orientation and led interactive sessions that encouraged dialogue, collaboration, and reflection that helped participants recognize gender biases, gender issues and explore practical ways to promote equity on their respective homes and workplaces. Batch 7’s completion marks another step forward in the ongoing effort to build a more inclusive society in support to Sustainable Development Goal No. 5: Gender Equality. This gender mainstreaming effort is made possible by the supportive leadership of the city’s dynamic local chief executive Atty. Jay Warren R. Pabillaran through the City Human Resource and Management Office led by Magnolia O. Improgo, DPA.
